Site Server 3.0 vs. Longhorn...

On a day when so many are getting their first look at the future of Microsoft technologies, I am here at my office (take notice that my office is not at the PDC) working on some of the greatest technology that ever came out of Microsoft.  That's right you guessed it I'm working with Site Server 3.0!

As I read all of Scott Hanselman's great little overviews of the keynote I sit here working with Site Server, and to make it even better our current instance of Site Server is running on NT4 and using a SQL 6.5 database.  Now given the opportunity to see Longhorn, Avalon, Aero, Indigo, Whidbey, ASP.NET 2.0, and Yukon OR work with the wonderful platform that is Site Server I'm sure you would all pick the latter.

I sit here today at my desk, which again, is not at the PDC, to let you all know that although you think you are living the life with all the great stuff at the PDC, you in fact are not nearly as lucky as me.  Long live Site Server!

You must work in a larger IT organization that likes to discuss the academic differences between Java and .NET... :-)

I was going to respond to your "Is SqlDataSource asking for trouble?" post that it seems that you're getting pretty deep into the nextgen PDC stuff for a guy that didn't attend the PDC (like myself.) I enjoyed reading of the nerd experience in LA, but as for the technology, I'm letting it roll off my back like water off a duck.

Here's a Stump the Geeks tidbit: At TechEd 2001 a BizTalk presenter asked the group what was the origin of BizTalk? You got it! Site Server Commerce Edition!

One last thing: NT4?

:-) I enjoyed the post. later.

Haha, yeah, we like to discuss academic differences between technologies!

Interesting tid bit regarding BizTalk, I'll make a note to stear clear of it :)

NT4, what are you saying its time to upgrade, come on no reason to move away from the amazing stability...there are only UI enhancements in Windows 2000, and Windows 2003 Server anyway :-), yeah right. To make things a little better we have updated the Site to run on Win2k, oh the joy of working with "emerging technology!"
