What was the best job you ever had?

I was recently talking to a couple people about the best job (or project) they ever worked on.  It was interesting to hear their responses as well as the things that made the projects/jobs their “coolest.“ Whats the best project or job you've ever had?  Why?

Definately an emergency management system I worked on nearly 10 years ago. This system is implemented country wide in South Africa. I got to work with a guy that I consider to be the best developer that I have had the oppertunity to work with and just looking at his work and approach to solving problems help form my own technique. I also got to do some really exciting stuff that really made a difference, of course when you are 19 years old everything is exciting!

Chris, Sounds cool! The jobs where there is someone else there to learn from are always fun. Working on systems that actually matter make things a little more exciting as well! Thanks for sharing ;-)

I worked on a project called ShipRepair.NET as part of the Microsoft Early Adopter program for .NET. I got to work with a bunch of excellent developers such as Mark DiGiovanni, Paul Laudeman, Brendan Tompkins, Mark Bonafe, and a couple more good people that aren't blogging.

The team aspect of it was great. We hit schedule, quality, and scope goals, until the very end when the requirements process finally died its long slow death.

Sounds like quite a dream team ;-) I think working with a good group of guys that you can learn from is key to a high quality project/job. Working with early adopter .NET bits must have been fun too.
