MSN Desktop Search indexes C# files!

I was very pleased to see that MSN Desktop Search indexes C# files. That in itself makes it worth installing instead of Google Desktop Search (does GDS support indexing C# files yet?).

What would you search your C# files for exactly? I can't think of a use for doing that.

I have a bunch of code that I've written over the years. I often times remember some code that I wrote on a previous project. Perhaps the code has a snippet of code that uses a particular class or namespace, fire up MSN Search enter the class name in the search box and begin searching. Maybe it's just me but it seems useful to search code files, heck I deal more with .cs files then .doc files.

Last item has a link to a company that has a GDS hack.

There is Google Desktop Search Plus that someone outside Google wrote, where you can add your own custom file extensions to be indexed. So, I used that to add even my VB6 code or even .csproj and .sln files.

Copernic Desktop Search has a feature where you list "additional text file types" to index. Very easy to add .cs, .config, .asmx files etc.

I did it and I like it.
